The Forward
Yep, it's already time for a new upload :w00t!: I've been working on a lotta different sets lately, so I had a few almost ready to go. This one I'm really happy with, I've never really worked with staffs rods or scepters before in my pixel work and they were a very nice means of getting out creativity, trying to come up with some interesting designs and even add spins to a few of the more traditional you see in RPG's and such.

Anyway, that aside, without any further ado here's the next batch of pixels...

The Work
Apprentice Staff - Aside from representing the starting point for any spellcaster, this staff is actually a tribute to two favorite video game mages of mine- Porom and Palom from Final Fantasy 2 (IV Japan). It was a simple enough design and with a little more meaning around it than just playing around with pixels.

Blue Rose - It looks a little more vicious than the name implies with all the sharp edges, but I wanted something that was kinda pretty and blue and it was the best attempt at a flower I could manage at this point in time ^^;

Broken Leaf - Needed something green and forest themed, just to make sure I covered all the bases. I did do what I could to make an interesting staff here, I've always been a big fan of the floating, magical items and I think that effect worked out nicely here ^_^

Clockwork - Steampunk is another big favorite of mine...and I can't draw cogs to save my meager life ^^; This was a request and I'm glad it's a little recognizable for what it is. Overall, it was a nice starting staff, one of the first I made.

Cobra - I got two different requests for a snake staff and the Egyptian cobra theme worked well with something else I did before (to be submitted later). It was difficult to get the right look with the staff going diagonal, but I think I managed to make it somewhat resemble what I had pictured.

Crescent Moon - It's a standard in most video games and anime and I've normally loved seeing the moon appear as motif in both. I think the inclusion of the gemstone helped offset the rest of the colors.

Dark Angel - This one I'm really happy with, it went through three different stages varying in color and then the addition of the blood stone. I really love the design and color scheme, which matches the Shadow Shield and Phantom Sword from my last two submissions, I suppose you could call them a set XD

Freezard - Yep, named after the monster you encounter in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (OoT), it was the first staff I made and I do like how little things helped to make it look less bland without being over the top.

Heart Staff - Another standard in video games and anime, I needed something to represent the healers and such, besides, someone was bound to ask for one sooner or later so I decided to strike first with a simple bu endearing design.

Court Jester - I actually wanted this, I had no idea how I was going to do it before I started. I really wish i could have done more, but that it's recognizable was more than I could have asked for ^^;

Oak Staff - I wanted something very basic and traditional, this actually came out looking prettier than I had intended. I wanted the classic spiral shape at the end of the staff, but all attempts ended in frustration until he just relented to put a gemstone in there. To make it a little less generic I added some bells that dangle from it, which I think really helped tie the whole thing together. Before anyone asks, I'm still working on feather shapes.

Oracle - This was the first staff where I really started adjusting the shaft design so everything wasn't all uniform and I think it shows ^^; I like how the colors came together and even if it isn't the most creative, it was worthy of mention for the steps it introduced for the rest of the staffs.

Rock Shaman - Need something red and smaller than some of the other staffs I was working on, it was also the first time I used the floating gem thing and I didn't come out so bad here ^_^

Scorpio - This was made for a friend's OC, given his style and flare along with being fond of the Zodiac theme, I was happy to take a shot. Initially this started as Cancer, but Scorpio seemed more appropriate. I did what I could make the shaft look like the tail and the tip resemble the stinger. I think I managed, but sometimes it has to be pointed out ^^;

Sprite Staff - This was one of the first, which is obvious enough given the simplicity of the design. The green gemstone did add a bit of color and helped out.

Subrosian Scepter - Another Zelda piece here, this time from Oracle of Seasons. I like the Subrosians, they're a likable bunch if a bit unusual (who isn't?). I this staff kinda reminded me of them with their red robes and hoods always up.

Sun Staff - I was just playing around the designs and this tarted to come out, I realized I didn't have a golden staff yet and it was a nice addition to the bow sets. It ended up looking like a fireball or something, so I thought with the golden color, it looked like the sun.

Toxic Shadow - Besides it being a very cool color set, the idea I had for Toxin is that it's some kinda magical runoff that makes things more powerful while being poisonous. So I have this neon green, thorny design here to kinda play off of that. I think it just looks really cool ^_^

Trident - I've seen The Little Mermaid too many times, I think of a trident as more of a magical weapon rather than a spear-like one. It's simple enough, but it does stand apart from the others.

Twilight Staff - I love the designs and colors in Twilight Princess (TP). I really wanted to exercise some of those alien shapes and get in on those colors to the best of my abilities. My monitor isn't the best and I can't know for sure if I have them very accurate, but it looks cool ^^;

The Closing
So there you have it, another submission fast after the last one. I think I'm liking trying out a few different things now and as it stands I have a whole open canvas for the next batch to come through ^_^

Until next time (soon)...
