Pixel Books Part One

Description

Again with my dabbling in pixel art. Don't worry, I haven't given up swords or axes, I merely wanted to get out some of my miscellaneous works that just sorta sprung out on my while I was playing around with things. Here you can see a rather vast collection of books and tomes. Far from an extensive library but with enough variety to fit many different themes.

Again, all of them have their normal appearance and then a 200% zoom to make out smaller details.

First Row:
Battle Tome - For all those warriors, knights and barbarians out there, we have some reading material for you. Really it just started as a red book that look good with some gold edges and designs, eventually I noticed I could tweak the symbols on the cover to resemble a sword and then just colored it in.

Blood Tome - ~KK6665Player and I have made quite a few gems together (to be covered in another submission) and I felt like testing out to see how I could add them into other items I've made. The Blood Tome was actually the second attempt at this, I don't think it came out so bad.

Book - Plain as dirt in both color and design, just a miscellaneous book, step one in the whole process- no less vital or loved.

Creature Catalog - The first attempt at adding a gem to a book and it came out rather fancy in design and earthy in color scheme. I reminded me of those old Monster Manuals from Dungeons and Dragons, so I named it based on that.

Second Row:
Dark Phoenix - The name carries through with many MANY different stories and RP's I've done over the years, but the reasoning behind it being stitched onto this cover is...well, the cover itself really. While playing around with color, I ended up making something that resembled a black bird.

Divine Scripts - Named for the arrows pointing up (yeah, that lame) really I was trying to make a neat looking red and gold book and went a little crazy with the cover design, but kinda liked it in the end.

Elf Leaves - Needed a green book, wanted to make sure to cover as much of the base colors as I could. Made some fancy designs on the cover to follow through with the elf theme, as they're usually famed for elegance and beauty. There is some blue in there, dunno if you see it.

Evil Eye - Needed something fantasy themed while also playing with an unusual color scheme. I wasn't aware that I made it resemble something from the Sheikah (Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time) until someone brought it up, I swear that was unintentional ^^;

Third Row:
Holy Tome - It was originally supposed to be a medical book, BUT that cross just looked to much like the religious symbol rather than the traditional Red Cross design, so it changed accordingly.

Kobold Book - A little bit of a play on words with the color scheme, Kobolds are fantasy, the book is a bit cobalt in color...get it? This was a little bit of a gift to a ~Marak-Pendragon who's a big kobold fan.

Legend of Altima - One of the simplest and yet best designs so far, in my opinion. This one plays into another item I've made, but haven't uploaded yet. I really love how the colors all come together on it.

Love Book - Was supposed to be a heart and lovey cover, but I also believe it resembles a Jynx from Pokemon ^^;

Fourth Row:
Medical Book - My second attempt and finally it resembles that Red Cross design I was going for, but it also looks a little like a card suit too, i suppose ^^; I tried to get a heart pattern in there too.

Mysterious Book - First book I ever made. 10 cool points to the person that can guess what item (already submitted here) this started out as :la:

Necronomicon - Needed a black book and black books look great with skulls. I didn't want just a white skull, that looked awful and having something pale was okay, but I wanted more of a bone color too. Dark etchings for dramatic effect and to help make it a little different from say...a Death Note?

Royal Journal - This thing was just some off the cuff designing and coloring and it came out look great in the end. Because it was so fancy and regal, I decided to go with that.

Fifth Row:
Spell Book - Because it fantasy themed I needed a spell book, what wizard library is complete without one...for that matter, what library in general is complete without one? No I didn't look up any Alchemy Script or anything for the cover...probably should have ^^;

Tome - Finally we just have a tome, different from a book by its hinges and lock. I wanted those features to make it seem old and important while not looking too flashy.

So there you have it, all the books I've currently finished and really just a sort of misc. submission while I get the rest of the new stuff together for more...which is to come soon and I have plenty of swords and LOTS of other stuff on the way!
